The First Step on Your Road to Success
By Dennis Fisher
The power of a decision.
This first step on your road to success
is to make a decision. A decision is a product of the mind that
initiates a course of
action. You have to make a definite, serious, specific, decision.
You have to decide what is your personal goal. What do you
aim to achieve?
For example, let us presume that your objective
happens to be a common goal of a great many people. You want
to become enormously
rich. Once again I wish to re-iterate that it is completely unnecessary
for you to spend time thinking about why you want to become rich,
or what motivates you to become rich.
The simple fact is that you have decided
you have a burning desire
to become rich. Why is not important. It is a decision you have
made. You now want to know how this can be achieved.
Once you have taken the critical step of
having made a definite decision, a remarkable sequence of events
will take place.
The thought processes of your mind will
trigger off a series of energy waves that lead to dynamic physical
action. You will
become goal-oriented, focused and directed. The more intensely
you focus on the goal you have set yourself as the result of
your
decision, the greater will be the energy waves you will be able
to generate
The importance of making a decision cannot
be overemphasized. Only when a definite, positive decision is
made will it initiate
an appropriate course of action.
Try this little experiment now.
Try a simple experiment to prove the validity of this concept.
Exercise.
Make a relatively unimportant decision immediately.
Make a definite decision, for example, on your form of entertainment
this weekend. Once you have made this decision you will find
that the planning process will immediately trigger off a series
of positive acts.
It might involve telephoning friends inviting
them to join you. It could require steps to be taken to purchase
tickets for the
entertainment you have planned; there may be a need to make arrangements
to engage a babysitter for the evening. It probably involves
the choice of clothes to wear for the occasion.
Your decision, even if it is relatively
unimportant, will immediately involve a degree of planning. Once
the definite decision has
been
made, you will be required to take immediate action. Even when
a minor decision is made you will become goal-oriented and directed.
When the decision you have
made is an important one that could affect your entire life,
the amount of mental and physical energy
you will be able to generate as you proceed with the planning
process will be immense.
Your decision, even if it is relatively
unimportant, will immediately involve a degree of planning. Once
the definite decision has
been
made, you will be required to take immediate action. Even when
a minor decision is made you will become goal-oriented and directed.
Every worthwhile
discovery and invention that has affected the lives of living
standards
of millions of people all over the world,
has come about as a result of decisions that have been made;
decisions
that originated in the mind of man. •
